Pam's Story
Life
My Husband
Dave and I met over 47 years ago at a Country/Western Dance Hall named, Chimes Square", in Baytown, Tx. After a whirlwind 3 month courtship, we married and have had been playmates ever since. Dave worked for Exxon Refinery for 13 years and thought he'd always be a company man, but the Lord had different plans for him. In 1991 he quit Exxon to go to college and seminary to become a Church Planter for the Southern Baptist North American Mission Board. We lived in the San Francisco Bay area for 3 years and then the Sonoma County Wine Country for 4 before coming to Nebraska, trading the vineyards for the corn fields. We have lived in Kearney, Nebraska for 19 years now. People always ask, "Where are you from?" to which I reply, "Nowhere." I've moved around all my life, first with my Dad in the military and now with Dave in the ministry. But, now that we've been in Nebraska for 24 year I guess it's time to claim Nebraska.
My Pets
Well.....we keep adopting dogs who's owners have died. We have a miniature Aussie and a Yorkshire terrier. When I tell Dave someone has died, his response is, "We are not taking their pet!". Then one of...Expand for more
our neighbors cats adopted us. His name is Biscuits. Recently acquired a black farm kitten named, Magic.
My Kids
I have two daughters, Melissa and Trinette. Missy lives in Denver. After four years in the Air Force and a couple of years on the neuro/surgical team at Georgetown University Hospital, she decided become a neuro/ortho medical equipment sales representative in the D.C./Boston area. Then decided she wanted to more where "real people" live. She chose Omaha, Nebraska. Due to a job promotion she had to move to Denver.
Trinette is a hardworking single mother to my autistic grandson, Trystan. They live with my husband and I because it does take a village to raise a child. She is a phelbotomist at the specialty clinic.
My Job
When David knew he wanted to go into the ministry, he helped me fulfill my High School dream of becoming a nurse. I've been an RN since 1991.
I'm now retired from acute care (floor nurse in a hospital) to part time Pediatric Home Health Care. I have a dream job of watching over a toddler at night to make sure he stays on his ventilator. Best part is he wakes up an hour before my shift ends and we get to play!
